MTV Networks Asia's flagship show - MTV Asia Awards (MAA) 2008 - is set to take over
the Malaysian music scene! The highly anticipated pan-regional music event is back
for the 6th year running, bringing music excitement to all music fans in more than 9
markets in Asia. For the first time, the Awards show that celebrates and pays tribute
to regional and international music talent will be held at the Arena of Stars in
Genting, Malaysia - City of Entertainment - on August 2nd, 2008.
This year's host will be actor and singer Jared Leto, who gained critical acclaim for his
role in Requiem for a Dream. Other notable film projects include
Fight Club and Panic Room. Leto is also the lead singer
and guitarist of alternative band 30 Seconds to Mars.

billion viewers across 162 countries. Over the years, the annual MTV Asia Awards
show has grown in size and notoriety, strengthening MTV's position as a forerunner
in the music industry.

MTV will be presenting a total of 16 awards during the show to honor and promote the
icons of youth culture and music. There will be 9 regional favorite artist awards and
7 international awards, including The Video Star Award, Breakthrough Artist, The
Innovation Award, Best Hook-Up, Bring Da House Down Award and edc by Esprit
Style Award.
