See what our visitors have had to say!
-- "Malaysia is amazing. I'm sure I'm a little biased since I lived there for a year but
it is simply amazing. Malaysia has a special place in my heart and I can't wait to
return. For vacationers, there tons of stuff do, buy, and see and english is widely
spoken so communication is a breeze. Make sure you bone up on Islamic culture
since Msia is a Muslim country. But don't let that throw you--Malaysia is known as the "modern face of Islam." You will never feel unsafe. Lastly, THE FOOD. The best food on the rock of Earth is in Malaysia. Blends of Malay, Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, and Indonesian flavors make the cuisine of Malaysia unbeatable. Do as the locals and sit in at mamak stall and enjoy Roti Canai and curry with a steaming cup of Teh Tarik. Hopefully you'll fall in love with KL and Malaysia like I did. I has become a part of me."
-- "KL people is friendly especially the Malays. The food ...absolutely excellent with
Chinese, Malay, Indian and western food. Malaysian live to eat because they eat all the time and you can see them eat anywhere in the city ._. so there are a lots of 24hours restaurants. There are 3 main races live together in KL and Malaysia. Do u like to shopping? if you say: Yes,...that's the right place for you to spend your money from cheapest to luxury goods.Anyway,i love KL and hope you guy will find the best of KL by yourself.Opps..a small thing is :traffic jam is often during the day time, but who care about such thing, enjoy and ...relax"
-- "I've visited KL twice now, the first time being in May 1999 (on honeymoon) and
more recently in 2005.
The first time we came to Malaysia or more specifically
Kuala Lumpur was because Malaysia was being promoted as the ideal shopping stop-
over. The national carrier Malaysian Airlines offered us an excellent deal where we
paid for the tickets and they put us up in the Grand Seasons (a 4* luxury hotel
located in the city centre) for FREE. Being too good a deal to resist (at the time) we
booked almost immediately!
The second time we came to Kuala Lumpur we tried to
get reservations at the Grand Seasons due to the fact that the hotel was brand new
in 1999, was centrally located for shopping, sight seeing etc, and had excellently
appointed superior rooms. Unfortunately due to a convention in the city almost all
rooms in every decent hotel were booked up. We managed to get a booking at the 4
* Federal Hotel - located on Bukit Bintang. The hotel was decent - the room was huge
and the bottom floors of the hotel housed a bar (that had great happy hours and
some really raunchy Filipino dancers), some restaurants , a travel agency and a
couple of massage parlours.
In terms of things to do - we did the usual sightseeing trips around the city which
included the Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur Tower, Sultan Shah Mosque, Sri
Mahamariaman Temple, Royal Selengor Pewter etc but we found places such as
China town (Petaling Street) which was FILLED with fake Gucci purses & wallets,
watches, fabrics and souveniers; Central Market in Jalang Hang Kasturi where we
picked up some exquisite Tenmoku pottery and other antiques & handicrafts, more to
our liking. Malls such as BB Plaza (which is a short walk from Federal Hotel), SOGO,
Pertama Complex, Suria KLCC (around the twin towers where you can get a bite to
eat amidst the shops & malls), Plaza Ampang, KL Plaza, Lot 10 were excellent for
value and selection.
KL is a great place to pick up turquoise and silver jewelery as you'll find such items
competetively priced. Like Thailand, this is also a good place to have suits tailor
made. Rather than including a 1-2 night stay at KL's premier amusement park
located 2000m above sea level in Genting Highlands, we bought bus tickets for pick
up from our hotel, from the travel agency in the lobby. The bus journey was a couple
of hours followed by a cable car ride up the mountain and the rides at Genting's
Outdoor Theme Park were absolutely superb.
Ride's not to be missed are the 'Skyshot' that shoots you a few hunderd feet into the
air and drops you right down! Plus the flying (roller) coaster - the ride that 'flies' you
like a super hero and the Cyclone Rollercoaster. So...all in all a great place to take
it easy and enjoy some quality shopping. The people are extremely friendly and
Malaysia is totally safe as the laws are quite strict. From a 'foodie' point of view -
you'll find great places to get chinese/thai/indian food almost everywhere, plus
there's also a Nandos and the fast food chains such as Pizza Hut (try the Prawn
Tempura there if you like seafood), McD's etc. Veggies, however, beware - choice is
often limited and places such as McDonalds do NOT cater for vegetarians. If you're
OK with spicy food then try the Indian restaurants in the Indian quarter of the city.
One of the only cons in my opinion is that Malaysia can be exensive even by western
standards. Make sure you bargain - and do the sales."
-- "Malaysia is a nice place, you can visit famous places just by train, bus, or foot.
Every place is accessible, try it just by walking. I like the foods in chinatown, satay is
very delicious. Batu caves is a must visit place. It's like an exercise when you go up
and down, 200 hundred steps to enter the caves and then next hundred steps for
another view inside the cave. I just don't like the smell everywhere, it's just not the
smell my nose wanted. hehe. If you want to visit Malaysia, you can take a bus from
Singapore. You don't have to change bus but you have to alight for the immigration
and then ride the same bus again. Also try Transnasional bus, it's the same with
Konsortium buses. Kosortium is the best bus we took, 30 SGD/30 MYR. But it's
cheaper to buy the ticket form Malaysia than in Sngapore. The same value but
different currency. Reserve tickets early morning or a day before your travel date if
you want to go to KL by bus from Singapore because they ran out of tickets in the
afternoon and you will end up getting a not-so-good bus. Or try to ride SMRT to Johor
baru and then from Johor, take a bus to KL, there are lots of buses there you can
choose going to KL and it'll save you more money too."
-- "What i like about malaysia is the warm weather (good for tanning),food (so
cheap!), the friendliness of its people and the multi-ethnic society..yeah, it's unique
to see the Malays, Indians and Chinese living together in peace and harmony..it's
hard to see this situation in other countries..also,they are very friendly..it's not hard
to ask for direction if you lost.Just simply ask anybody and they will try their best to
give you the direction...1 more thing, if you're crazy for shopping low-prized but
branded and with high qualilty, KL is the best place for you...and if you're a food
lover and wish to taste Malay,Indian,Chinese,Western and other Asian delicacies at
the same place, again, KL is the right place for you..Needn't to go to India or China or
Portugal to taste their food..it's all available in KL...Travelling with public transports
(taxi,LRT,monorail, komuter, bus)is highly recommended..LRT is the best..."
-- "Kuala Lumpur is wonderful. Take the oppurtunity to enjoy the food and the
atmosphere. The people are generally helpful but it pays to haggle for taxi
fares.Stand firm on your price and all is well. Take time to enjoy the islands. The
weather is beautiful and the water warm and clear. Do not miss a trip to Pulau
Pangkor and Pulau Perhentian. You won't regret it. The country is generally safe but
people outside the city tend to stare at anyone. They are curious not dangerous.Your
dollar goes far so spulrge on a great hotel and be ready to be treated like royalty.
Pack light, the weather can be hot and humid. Be open to try the various kind of
food. Don't flash wads of money or jewerly, you might attract unwanted
attention.Leave all valuables including passports in the hotel safe for the duration of
your stay. Act confindent even if you are not. Almost everyone understand English
and can speak it.Enjoy the stay and bring along a great camera."
-- "We visited in the June/July 06 time frame, our family vacation lasted
approximately 26 days. My wife is from Klang, MY. During our stay we visited various
places throughout the country and throughly enjoyed each and every one. The
beaches on the east coast of the peninsula were some of the best we have ever
visited. There is something for everyone in the family to do. We never did the same
thing twice and the people were so friendly and courteous. My wife and I got to
spend an evening or two at a couple of 5 star hotels in KL. What a treat, everything
was top notch. This was my 9th visit to Malaysia in the last 8 years and each one is
more memorable than the last. This country has impressed my wife and I so much,
we are looking into purchasing a retirement home for ourselves. I would highly
recommend this to anyone. The only drawback is the long flight from the USA. But
we have traveled with 3 children under 6 for our last two trips and we made an
adventure out of it for the kids. Sometimes I think they enjoyed the flight more than
the visits."
-- "I love KL so much. Food..shop...etc and the skylines...woooowwwwwww. Go to
KLCC, Aquaria, KL Tower, Bintang Walk etc.. I cant wait to go back again..."
-- "there is nothin to dislike except the fact that some cab drivers were charging
tourists 5 times the usual fare. and the likings , well..... very hard to say...starting
from the beautiful langkawi island to the marvelous picturisque beauty of genting to
the wonderful sunway lagoon nd the malls ohh so plenty and so much to shop.really
will definitely go there again."
-- "I've been to Malaysia Kuala Lumpur twice within the year...Wonderful place to
visit..Weather always warm...Rains at least once a day, but sun always shines. Street
Markets everywhere...Great place for Halal food...Friendly people..I love it here."
-- "In a way, this country is more advance and developed than the US."
-- "The shopping area was fantastic-- even a Tiffany shop! Beautiful mosque and
pretty city."
-- "I really liked the place and wish to go back again it's safe, people are friendly,
very friendly...places are extremely nice..prices are ok...everything is good."
-- "KL is very tourist friendly city catering for all taste. My personal tip is use the
excellent hi-speed rail connection from KLIA to Central Station. It is fast, reliable and
inexpensive."
-- "The coolest I mean the best place that u guys should visit!! Luv the weather,
environment, people, place, food (damn! so tasty!)...everything so cheap for me!!! I
can't wait to go back! Miss Malaysia!"
-- "The treats and delights of KL never fails to amaze me or my family. Seems the
brights lights and smiles are encouraging factors in empowering people to constantly
make revisits to KL."
